About the job 

The ICRC Finance and Administration Unit recruits an Accountant to be based in its Kyiv office. In close cooperation with the team members and line managers, the Accountant will prepare, reconcile, and analyze the accounting records and financial reports of the organizational structure under his/her responsibility.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• VAT reconciliation Focal Point
• VAT reconciliation entry in JDE/IRIS on the monthly basis and pending that was accumulated 
• Dealing with requests from Logistics (LOG) department (invoices, documents, payments)
• Preparation and post accounting entries in the accounting software on a regular basis
• Ensuring accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions in line with financial procedures
• Helping to ensure that operations run smoothly through efficient cash-flow management, covering the fund needs of the delegation/structure
• Always keeping files up to date and guarantee proper filing of relevant supporting documents for future reference, including audits
• Performing regular integrity checks of accounting entries and account balances
• Participating in monthly closing activities and is responsible for part of them
• Providing support to other departments and responding to semi-routine and non-standard inquiries when necessary
• Identifying anomalies or other issues and proposing solutions to his/her supervisor

 About you

To be successful as an Accountant in the Finance and Administration Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• Completed secondary schooling and vocational training 
• Diploma in accounting. Bachelor's degree or equivalent is an asset
• Three to five years of work experience in a similar field
• Good command (written and spoken) of English and Ukrainian
• Computer proficiency
• Experience of international organizations is an asset
• Sound knowledge of accounting software
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Confidence in managing projects and staff
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
