Junior Legal Counsel

SKELAR is the multi-product IT company where we recreated the venture capital world. As venture builder, we kick off and run startups with a focus on high-tech, data and analytics.

Our business: We have eight products in different niches and millions of users around the world (the USA, South America, Europe and Asia). Every year we demonstrate key indicators of growth by 50-60% and continue to expand. During the last year, SKELAR successfully launched four new startups, proving that enthusiasm, drive and business acumen are embedded in our DNA.

Livebeam is one of the startups of venture builder SKELAR. Our flagship product is a platform for influencers.

Now we are looking for a Junior Legal Counsel (in-house Kyiv) who will strengthen our Compliance Team and shall have focus marketing and compliance with the Tier-1 geos (USA, EU, UK, etc.) regulatory requirements.

What challenges await you in the role:
– Own compliance support of Marketing and PR Teams (i.e. determine and communicate redlines for what is acceptable and not acceptable in terms of positioning, marketing claims, substantiation, influencer-marketing, marketing disclosures; provide trainings; examine latest regulatory practices; etc.);
– Work closely with KYC function regarding marketing partners handling;
– Implement the next level of compliance and risk management into our relationships with third parties and creators.

Starter-kit needed to join the team:
– 2+ years of experience in either of: big law firms / legal boutiques / big-four / top-tier local or international companies;
– High level of critical thinking;
– Law degree from a top-tier Ukrainian or foreign university;
– Fluent legal/business English. Advanced drafting skills;
– Proactive self-starter.

Our ideal profile:
– Previous professional exposure (including in-house) to tech sector (marketplaces, B2C platforms, ride-hailing, etc.) and/or digital marketing sector;
– Expertise in US and EU consumer protection law, commercial law (i.e., FTC Act, ROSCA, CAN-SPAM ACT, OMNIBUS Directive, etc.);

As the war began, we continued supporting our employees and their relatives with all our might and may. We evacuated our team and their beloved ones from different parts of the country; helped them with the relocation to our corp. sites in Western Ukraine; supported employees in financial difficulties; provided those who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Territorial Defense Forces with the special equipment.
