Head of Legal Department

Kinomania (http://kinomania.com.ua/) is Ukraine's second largest film distribution company, helping the biggest names in film industry to release their movies in Ukraine. Our primary partner is Warner Bros. Pictures. At Kinomania, we pride ourselves on implementing the most creative and efficient release strategies for approx. 20 movies of Warner Bros. and for over 20 movies of other studios throughout the year. Legal is one of the key support functions for our business. Our team supports all releases by

• creating agreements with our customers (cinemas) on a film-to-film basis;
• structuring deals with key suppliers of publicity, advertising, design and printing services;
• facilitating cooperation with media partners and sponsors;
• structuring various film deals, both locally and internationally, using most sophisticated license agreements;
• supporting royalty collection from cinemas, incl. claims and court cases in default situations;
• doing compliance checks on all client cinemas (approx. 400 legal entities) and key suppliers (approx. 100 legal entities).

Our legal team also runs all general corporate issues: staff files, vacations, sick leaves, other internal affairs and policies. We have foreign (non-resident) staff who rely on our legal team to receive full work permit and residency permit support (this function can also be outsourced from time to time). Our legal team supports our relationships with various governmental authorities, incl. but not limited to Ukrainian Film Agency, Tax Office, Antimonopoly Committee and other.

We are looking for someone to take on the role of Head of Legal Department in order to support all major legal activities and to manage a team of 3-4 people. This role implies providing legal support to chief executive officer and other senior management. Ideal candidate would have media and/or content distribution or production background.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A graduate in Law, minimum 5 years professional experience in corporate environment; prior experience in media (TV, radio, digital), advertising, cinemas, content distribution or production is preferred
• Knowledge of Ukrainian Law, specifically corporate and intellectual property
• An open-minded and creative problem-solver with 'out-of-the-box' thinking: creative ideas of our strategy and marketing teams need solid legal basis and compliance verification on a case-to-case basis
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in day-to-day affairs and documentation
• A strong communicator who is able to explain his/her position with reference to specific laws and legal practices
• Min. intermediate level of English; however, your English is sufficiently good if you fully understand this job description
• Film industry knowledge is a benefit, BUT NOT A REQUIREMENT
• Certificate of Attorney (whether complete or in progress) is a benefit, BUT NOT A REQUIREMENT

SCHEDULE

Full-time, flexible working hours possible at request
