GIS or Data Assistant with REACH Initiative

About REACH Initiative

REACH is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian action in crisis contexts. By providing precise and reliable information on the humanitarian situation of populations in Ukraine, REACH’s work informs better delivery of aid and more transparent decision making. In Ukraine, REACH has a supportive and closely working team, spread across seven bases (Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, Odessa and Dnipro), all of whom are dedicated to producing high quality research to improve the situation for people in Ukraine. REACH is seeking a candidate to join our growing team as a GIS or Data Assistant. The ideal candidate will be a current university student, who is motivated to develop their skills and learn in a supportive environment, whilst helping the humanitarian response. No specific skills are required for this post, however the candidate should demonstrate an aptitude for GIS or Data, depending on which position is applied for. 

Duties and Areas of Responsibility

• As part of the GIS or Data team, support the work to inform the humanitarian response in Ukraine  
• Complete tasks assigned by your technical line-manager (who has expertise in either GIS or Data)
• Produce outputs as required e.g., static maps, or cleaned databases. 
• Develop your technical skills in the growing humanitarian sector, with the support of our Specialist Assessment, Data and GIS teams.

Person Specification

• Prior experience in the humanitarian sector desirable but not required.
• Extremely motivated and keen to learn 
• Demonstrable aptitude for working with data or GIS 
• Must know how to use Microsoft suite, including Excel. 
• Prior experience using R or Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS, QGIS, Excel Data Processing Tools 
• Fluency in Ukrainian and good English required. 
• Highly motivated and passionate about improving the humanitarian response in Ukraine

Terms and Conditions

This full-time post is for an initial 6 months, with the possibility of renewal following successful completion. We offer a competitive salary, based on the candidates experience and skills.
