Data Officer

REACH Initiative are looking for motivated Data Officers, who are passionate about improving the humanitarian response in Ukraine to join our team of experienced, dedicated humanitarians in.

REACH is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian action in crisis contexts. By providing precise and reliable information on the humanitarian situation of populations in Ukraine, REACH’s work informs better delivery of aid and more transparent decision making. In Ukraine, REACH has a supportive and closely working team, spread across seven bases (Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, Odessa and Dnipro), all of whom are dedicated to producing high quality research to improve the situation for people in Ukraine. Have a look at the data and analysis we produce here. 

REACH is seeking an entry-level candidate with some previous experience in Data to join our growing team as a Data Officer. The ideal candidate will be a new graduate or early career professional, who is motivated to develop their skills and learn in a supportive environment, whilst helping the humanitarian response.  

Duties and Areas of Responsibility

• Support research on humanitarian situation monitoring and displacement to inform the humanitarian response in Ukraine. 

• Build mobile data collection tools and ensure quality of the collected data through set of data checking and cleaning procedures. 

• Analyze collected data using Excel or R and present results in a form of static and\or interactive visualizations. 

• Develop your technical skills in the growing humanitarian sector, with the support of our Specialist Assessment, Data and GIS teams. 

Person Specification

• Experience in a sphere of social sciences, data science or information management is desirable but not required. 

• Experience with Excel is needed. 

• Prior experience in the humanitarian sector desirable but not required. 

• Prior experience using R, PowerBI or any other similar tools is a strong asset. 

• Fluency in Ukrainian and good English required. [Very good English writing skills are required] 

• Highly motivated and passionate about improving the humanitarian response in Ukraine 

Terms and Conditions

This full-time post is for an initial 6 months, with the possibility of renewal following successful completion. We offer a competitive salary, based on the candidates experience and skills.
