Nordic Hamburg Ship Management is a full suite ship management company with a global footprint, having offices in Hamburg, Hong Kong and Odessa. In order to strengthen our fast-growing Crew Operations Center in Odessa, we are looking to hire a highly motivated and competent Crew Operations Manager to join our team.



The Crew Operations Manager reports to the Senior Crewing Manager and is responsible for the effective management of a team of Crew Operators and Crew Operator Assistants where you will act as role model and leader within the organization, guiding and motivating your team in achieving the goals and ambitions of the company. You will be responsible for maintaining relationships with key stakeholders both within the Nordic Hamburg organization as well as external relationships and for building, developing and maintaining a self-sustained crew operations team.



The Crew Operations Manager's duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage a Crew Operations team ensuring all company owned, managed and 3rd party client vessels are manned to the highest possible standards.
  • Ensure the pool of seafarers is correctly managed and that we are suitably covered with manpower for an ever-expanding fleet of diverse vessels.
  • Development of a talent pipeline of seafarers.
  • Budget development and control including proposing initiatives for reducing operating costs without compromising on quality.
  • Continuous improvement of processes to increase efficiencies.
  • Ensure Crew Operations is delivered to the highest possible standards.
  • Drive a performance culture.



Perform other tasks as assigned by the management in accordance with company policies.



College graduate or equivalent professional qualification;

At least three (3) years experience in a managerial role within manning/ship management is required.

Previous seagoing experience is preferred although not mandatory.




The ability to see the big picture as well as having an eye for the small details.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate on any level.

The ability to analyze and identify areas for improvement with close monitoring and follow up.

A self-starter and idea generator.

An embracer of the digital world.
