GIS and Data Specialist, Humanitarian Demining, Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine

Swiss Foundation for Mine Action is non-commercial, non-political, independent and non-government organisation. HQ is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

The aim of FSD is to support MA. In general, all FSD activities are focused on reduction of social, economic, and ecological impact of mine/ERW contamination.

Purpose of position:

Under overall management of Programme Manager and direct supervision of Project Officer, GIS and Data Specialist is responsible for the mapping and monitoring of operational statistics of project teams, input in mission database, according to FSD SOPs.

Location:

The position is located in Kryvyi Rih, however frequent travel to locations in the project area of operations (including occasional overnight deployments) is required. Travel to Kiev may also be required.

Responsibilities:

To create maps using the related software

To put objects on the map

Analyze and record data regarding the activities of organisation

Collect and collate operational statistics in order to prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for donor, FSD HQ, UN Agencies or other relevant stakeholders as required.

Assist in writing operational project reports

Assist in the drafting of letters and documents as required.

Knowledge of QGIS/ArcGISBasics of databases Advanced computer skills Word/Excel Knowledge of drones is desirable:Drone settings(mavic)English (basic)

Applicant Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mapping software
  • Knowledge of mapping principles, coordinate systems.
  • Fluency in written and oral English, Ukrainian, Russian.
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Microsoft Office, ArcGis, Mapinfo, Google Earth
  • Proven experience in completion of written report in English, Ukrainian and Russian.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS or a related degree may be an advantage, but is not specifically required.
  • Minimum of two years practical experience in a business, government or non-governmental organization environment.
  • Driver's license desirable but not essential.

Start Date - ASAP

Duration - 1 year with a possibility of extension
