Reports to:                 Project Coordinator

Contract duration:     twelve months (two month probation)

Ukraine Crisis 

HelpAge has been present in Ukraine since 2014. With a total workforce of over +600 people including staff, volunteers and contractors.  Our response plan includes cash assistance, food distributions, NFI distribution, health and dignity 

kits, support to access health services, care and support, WASH, protection, mental and psychosocial first aid.

Key responsibilities:

  • under direct supervision of Project Coordinator you will ensure that project field activities are carried out timely, in line with project workplan and the HAI principles and standards;
  • oversee and guide the work of social workers, by ensuring their interaction with beneficiaries is in line with the agreed dynamics, monitoring standards and established principles and standards;
  • conducting trainings for social workers;
  • contribute to project activity planning and project reporting;
  • ensure timely distribution of aid products to beneficiaries and referrals to technical services as required; 
  • regularly provide field reports and flag issues which need to be addressed by the project and programme management and/or require intervention by the technical advisors. 
  • planning the work of the CSSes, visit regularly and ensure their smooth functioning;
  • preparation of beneficiaries stories and photos.

You will be a Ukrainian national with:

Essential requirements:

  • university degree in social work or related field;
  • at least one year of experience in working with national or international NGOs in humanitarian field or in national social services;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • knowledge of English, at least for simple direct verbal and written communication;
  • social work training.

Desirable:

  • experience in working with elderly people and/or people with disabilities;
  • knowledge of international humanitarian standards.

Safeguarding

HelpAge International is committed to safeguarding the communities with which we work, our partners, staff and any others who we come into contact with.

Therefore, you will also be responsible for:

  • Preventing harm and abuse from our people, operations and programmes, to anyone that encounters our work;
  • Reporting all safeguarding incidents you see, hear, hear about or suspect, using our internal reporting mechanism;
  • Complying with all safeguarding framework policies and practices;
  • Completing mandatory training courses relating to our safeguarding policy framework and complying with HR vetting procedures.
