Community Health Manager- Kyiv

Job Summary

The Community Health Manager will support the Medical Director in drafting a comprehensive community health and awareness strategies for IMC supported program areas in Ukraine. The incumbent will work closely with local health authorities and other stakeholders in raising community awareness about Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Infectious Diseases, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Mental Health through social medial platforms and other facility and community-based interventions in IMC target program areas. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Define and update the community health and awareness strategies in consultation with the local health authorities and other technical units (MHPSS, Nutrition, WASH) of IMC.
  • Prepare an action plan for implementation of community health and awareness activities for all IMC target areas in Ukraine as per the newly developed community health and awareness strategies.
  • Manage staff involved in community health and awareness activities (recruitment, training, supervision etc.)
  • Working closely with local health authorities in devising health messages about key chronic and infectious diseases (prevalent in the area) and disseminating those messages among the public through multiple channels like social media, IEC materials etc.
  • Working closely with communication department to ensure organizational and donor visibility and branding guidelines
  • Raise purchase requests for printing of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials and follow up the status of the procurement with the procurement department on a regular basis
  • Undertake regular field visits to ensure compliance and timely execution of all planned activities. 
  • Establish good working relationship with partners in Ukraine to learn from their experiences and share best practices.
  • To support the MEAL team in carrying out baseline and endlines surveys on community-based health education activities in IMC support program areas. 
  • Prepare monthly progress reports for senior management team and donors

Qualifications

  • The candidate must be a medical doctor.
  • At least five years of relevant and progressive experience in health education (preferably with an NGO) 
  • Experience of working in complex environments.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. 
  • Ability to relate to and motivate community members effectively.
  • Excellent self-motivation skills 
  • Extremely flexible and can cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
  • Excellent command of English with the ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret, technical and non-technical information in the English language.
