Job Description

This role will be to develop, maintain and enhance the existing monitoring system in Playtech. The work is done within a team that specializes in many aspects of IT and system administration in various platforms.

Playtech monitoring system is one of the most complicated, big and advanced monitoring system in Europe. It contains 5 different monitoring and performance applications that provides a full and global picture on the production environment:

• Micro Focus Operations Bridge Manager (OBM formerly known as OMi)
• HP Operations Manager (OM)
• HP SiteScopes
• HP uCMDB
• Micro Focus Operations Connector (OpsCx)

The monitoring system also includes several self-developed monitoring tools for JMX and network monitoring and performance.

The monitoring system is monitoring over 12000 production servers in over 80 sites and has 11 central servers and over 80 monitoring VMs across the world.

The monitoring system is composed with hundreds of Python\Perl\Bash scripts using different types of monitoring methods and technologies like DB queries for DB and application monitoring, Windows, UNIX and Linux OS commands, URL and Certificates monitoring, SNMP for network monitoring and also JMX monitoring for the Java applications.

A new feature for statistical preventive monitoring - the PT-PAS system, is a unique monitoring for the business side that was deploy in in Playtech as a world pilot and is successfully doing the business monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Manage monitoring systems, solve issues while investigating monitoring configuration
• Develop scripts to monitor different type of technologies
• Manage Micro Focus Operations Manager i console
• Create service views for alerts and performance and filters using the Real Time Service Model (RTSM)
• Add new servers\products\services to be monitored
• Add existing monitors according to existing application on server
• Install and configure new monitoring VMs (JMX servers)
• Deploy monitoring to whole new sites
• Manage monitoring on servers
• Deploy monitors on SiteScope severs per location
• Resolve challenging monitoring problems and produce monitoring solutions
• Working with ServiceNow to maintain and investigate monitoring issues

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Unix/Linux servers administration (2-3 years at least)
• Hands on experience in scripts development such as Python and Bash (2 year at least)
• Team player
• Ability to fast learn
• Perfect communication skills
• English level is Intermediate +

As a plus

• Knowledge in any monitoring concepts and tools (Micro Focus advantage (old HP), IBM, open source solutions like Zabbix, Nagios, etc)
• Hands on experience in configuration of monitoring system and different customization and integration
• Knowledge in Perl scripts development
• Knowledge in SNMP protocol
• InfluxDB + Grafana stack
• Git, Gitlab as version control system
• Puppet configuration management tool
