About the job 

The ICRC Armed and Security Forces (FAS) Unit recruits an Armed and Security Forces (FAS) Assistant to be based in its Kyiv office. In close cooperation with the team members and line managers, the FAS Assistant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the FAS program and all the activities related to the “military and security forces” (MAG/PGE) department.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and feed a contacts database containing Armed and security forces actors or other relevant external interlocutors (military or police attaches, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), UN system, etc.).
• Organize International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL) related events, such as training, seminars, meetings, roundtables, and conferences, for law enforcement or military to promote IHL and IHRL
• Monitor and follow up budget expenditure in support of the FAS Coordinator
• Initiate and follow up with Logistics Unit requests for material/ equipment in support of FAS Department activities
• Take notes during meetings and conferences and draft reports when needed 
• Contribute, if necessary, to written reporting, interpretation, or translation

About you

To be successful as an Armed and Security Forces (FAS) Assistant in the Armed and Security Forces (FAS) Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• High-school degree (if military/police background) or University degree (if no police/military background)
• Background in legal and security is an asset
• Typically, 3 years of relevant professional experience (military, police, legal, or security or any other relevant experience)
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Ukrainian
• Computer proficiency
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Confidence in managing projects and staff
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
