About the job 

The ICRC People and Culture Department is recruiting a Staff Health Officer based in its Odesa office. In close cooperation with the team members and line managers, the Staff Health Officer will mainly be responsible for implementation of the ICRC Staff Health Strategy in Odesa Sub Delegation and other ICRC sites as per need for the benefit of the ICRC staff. 

Start date: May 2024 

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Carry out Staff Health briefings for all new ICRC staff 
  • Assess and supervise living conditions in the Sub Delegation, promote general hygiene standards (e.g., housing, water filters, hygiene standards of cooks and cleaners, nutritional advice)
  • Evaluate the medical structures available and quality of services provided; identify and monitor services for the referral and treatment of ICRC staff
  • Provide advice and support to ICRC staff with health problems
  • Provide advice on the medical needs of ICRC staff during transportation and coordinate medical evacuations from the field to the capital. 
  • Liaise with Staff Health Manager (SHM) and coordinate at local level in case of the repatriation of personnel out of the country following concerned guidelines and procedures
  • Implement and supervise staff health policies at Sub Delegation level
  • Contribute to implementation of ICRC stress policy and its follow up
  • Collect accurate and reliable data on illnesses, accident, and absenteeism, with a view to providing statistic on illnesses and the medical risks taken by all ICRC staff
  • Work closely with Staff Psychosocial Support and Wellbeing team for better access to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services benefitting ICRC workforce

About you

To be successful as a Staff Health Officer in the People and Culture Department you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • Medical doctor (master's degree in medicine) or registered nurse
  • Professional fluency in English and Ukrainian
  • Computer proficiency
  • Three years of clinical experience
  • Experience in mental health and stress management
  • Experience in medical evacuation and transportation
  • Knowledge of public health and private health structures
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Confidence in managing projects and staff
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
