The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC has several Rosters and Pools for different professions. To join an ICRC Roster and Pool, we will assess your expertise and professional experience against the below-mentioned criteria and invite you for an online technical test. Once you have passed the test, you will join the specific ICRC Roster and Pool. About the job
For our communications unit, we are looking for Communications Officers with a specialization in digital media or print production. A Communications Officer contributes to designing, planning, and implementing communications projects and activities. A Communication Officer contributes to presenting the ICRC externally, works to enhance ICRC digital reputation and positioning, and building the necessary understanding and acceptance among key stakeholders. As a member of a strong team a Communication Officer supports the ICRC`s efforts to connect with relevant audiences through digital content and channels.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Contribute to defining communication and prevention objectives, strategies, and plans of action for the ICRC Ukraine delegation
- Implement relevant activities and develop tools for: operational communication, promoting international humanitarian law (IHL), building National Red Cross/Red Crescent Society communication capacity, public, digital, and print communication, information analysis, environmental scanning, interactions with religious circles, public affairs, and resource mobilization
- Support in networking with relevant stakeholders and represents the ICRC
- Follow political, security, military, and humanitarian developments, as well as other issues relevant to the ICRC`s reputation/perception and capacity to operate in Ukraine, contributing to their analysis
- Support communication-related training and coaching
- Manage social media accounts, develops digital projects, engaging with and delivering content
- Create, edit, repurpose, and publish a wide variety of engaging content for digital channels and print
- Conduct evaluations of the success of the digital content initiatives after publications and produces social media reports
- Manage the print and electronic production of ICRC institutional publications

About you
To be successful in this Roster and Pool recruitment, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- University degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as communications, political science, international relations, and journalism
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a field relevant to communication and/or prevention
- Sound knowledge of the political, social and media environment in Ukraine
- Good command (written and spoken) of English, Ukrainian, and Russian
- Computer literate, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with digital communications tools
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles.
