Once you have passed the test, you will join the specific ICRC Roster and Pool. About the job 

For our People & Culture Team, we are looking for Staff Health Officers. A Staff Health Officer is the focal point for all ICRC employees in his/her area of responsibilities for all matters related to staff’s physical and mental health. In line with ICRC staff health strategy and in collaboration with medical personnel/health facilities, a Staff Health Officer promotes and maintains the physical and mental health of all staff, including prevention, health care and medical emergencies, stress management, health insurance, etc.  

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Carry out staff health briefings for all new staff members
• Assess and supervise working conditions and promote general hygiene standards
• Evaluate the medical structures available for staff and their quality of services
• Identify and monitor services for the referral and treatment of staff
• Provide advice and support to staff with health-related questions, concerns, or problems
• Provide advice on the medical needs of staff during transportation and coordinate medical evacuation
• Liaise with staff health center of expertise at headquarters and coordinate at local level in case of a medical repatriation of a staff member
• Compile staff health guidelines and procedures as per ICRC standards
• Implement and supervise staff health policies
• Collect accurate and reliable data on illness, accidents, and absenteeism, with a view to providing statistics on illnesses and the medical risks taken by all staff
• Review medical invoices for anonymization and approval of medical expenses
• Report and provide feedback and recommendation on issues related to the staff health
• Carry out defusing and create peer support groups following critical incidents, and follow up if further intervention is needed

About you

To be successful in this Roster and Pool recruitment, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• University degree as medical doctor (master’s degree in medicine) or registered nurse 
• Three years of clinical experience 
• Good knowledge and understanding of public health system in Ukraine 
• Previous experience working in humanitarian sector would be considered an asset;
• Experience in mental health and stress management 
• Expertise in medical evacuation and transportation 
• Good knowledge of spoken & written English
• Computer literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Confidence in managing projects and staff
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
