The ICRC Delegation seeks to fill the following position:

Forensic Programme Assistant based in Dnipro

AIM OF THE POSITION

The Forensic Programme Assistant assists the ICRC in the implementation of forensic programmes in the area of responsibilities of Dnipro (DNI) Subdelegation. S/he provides technical and administrative support to the forensic activities using his/her intricate knowledge of the Ukrainian medicolegal system. The Forensic Programme Assistant is part of the Forensic Team within the ICRC delegation in Ukraine and works under the technical supervision of the Forensic Specialist DNI. When requested s/he represents the ICRC towards external interlocutors relevant to his/her responsibilities and tasks.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the implementation of forensic program in Ukraine, particularly by providing technical and administrative support for forensic activities at the DNI Subdelegation.
  • Organizes the logistics and prepares materials for forensic activities such as training courses, workshops and the safe and dignified management of deceased persons.
  • Ensures that DNI Subdelegation has relevant forensic dissemination materials and publications. 
  • Participates in forensic related meetings, briefings and training sessions for relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides regular forensic updates by oral and written reports on forensic related matters; prepares minutes of meetings and mission reports.
  • Maintain and organize records for archiving, monitoring and reporting using the institutional tools. 
  • Disseminates ICRC information/messages on forensic science and forensic action in humanitarian settings.
  • Translates and interprets written documents and oral correspondences between English, Ukrainian and Russian as needed.

Tasks and responsibilities listed above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational and operational needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and professional qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in medical, biological, criminalistics or forensic sciences 
  • Fluent command in English (at least B2 level), Ukrainian and Russian
  • Experience in Forensic case work 
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in forensic practice or working in a medico legal system institution. 
  • Experience in forensic training is an asset.
