The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 19,000 field staff.

In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 600 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk.

AIM OF THE POSITION

Digital and Print Production Specialist is the focal point for ICRC in Ukraine for the print production of publications and promotional items. S/he is also responsible for implementing the production process at the delegation level, under supervision by both the Communication Manager and the Production Officer at the relevant regional communication centre. Digital and Print Production Specialist also contributes to designing, planning and implementing communication projects and activities in coordination with the manager.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the print and electronic production of ICRC institutional publications in the relevant language from design to off-press, selecting and supervising the work of freelance graphic designers and printers so as to ensure quality service and respect for deadlines.
  • Ensures that all products comply with corporate visual identity.
  • Initiates publications and promotional items of local reach, in consultation with the Communication Manager.
  • Manages the promotion and distribution of new and existing publications produced by the regional communication centre and headquarters in liaison with the delegation.
  • Compiles the yearly delegation production book, ensuring implementation and follow-up, including distribution of produced materials.
  • Works with the logistics team and client departments within the delegation in managing stocks of communication tools.
  • Produces (through outsourcing) the annual ICRC calendars using templates provided by the Field Print Production Coordinator. 
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the communication team (e.g. filing, stock management, event organization) when required.
  • Supports communication-related training and coaching for field staff and/or other departments when needed.
  • Contributes to defining communication and, where relevant, prevention objectives, strategies and plans of action for the geographic area or programme covered, in line with the delegation’s priorities and communication/prevention strategy.

The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in a communication-related field such as journalism, marketing, publication editing and/or production;
  • Over 3 years’ of experience in a related field;
  • Fluent spoken and written English;
  • Very sound knowledge of print production processes (from design to print) and visual identity management; mastery of related software is an asset;
  • Experience in working with external suppliers (designers, printers, editors and translators), having a database of contractors is an asset.
