Health Field Officer

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.

The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.

In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

Health Field Officer

 AIM OF THE POSITION

·  Support the Health Department in administrative and field activities.

·  Assist in the donation of the medical items and drugs and contribute to the administrative aspect of this activity and contribute to the monitoring and reporting of the medical programs.

 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Regular follow up of medical program in the area of assignment.

·  Preparation and follow up of medical orders.

·  Available to travel at short notice to other places in the country, to evaluate needs and/or bring assistance.

·  To maintain regular contact with medical interlocutors in the area of assignment (authorities, INGOs, staff in health facilities)

·  Support and if necessary translate in English for other members of the department during internal or external meetings.

·  The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and professional qualifications

·  Nursing certificate or graduate medical doctor. 

·  At least 2 years work experience in a similar field of activity.

·  Good knowledge of spoken and written English.

·  Good computer knowledge.

Personal Competencies

·  Capacity to adhere to and to implement procedures.

·  Good communication skills.

·  Able to work in an austere environment involving field trips.

·  Ability to work methodically with demonstrated analytical skills.

·  Experience with humanitarian work is an asset.
