    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.


    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.


    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severdonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    based in Slavyansk





    • Contributes to development of the Emergency Department project in Bakhmut City. Organizes working groups, prepares internal reporting, and facilitates meetings within the project.
    • Prepares and follows up of medical orders, in accordance with the ICRC internal procedure.
    • Provides expertise to the health related activities implemented in the area. Contributes to needs assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of the medical programs in the area (ad-hoc and regular hospital support, primary healthcare support program, etc.)
    • Maintains regular contact with medical interlocutors in the area of assignment (authorities, INGOs, senior staff in medical facilities), support and, if necessary, translate in English for other members of the department during internal or external meetings.
    • Travels to other places in the country, to evaluate needs and/or bring assistance.
    • Organizes educational events, such as War Surgery Seminar and Emergency Room Trauma Course.
    • Contributes to the health contingency planning.
    • Advises on cultural and political aspects, general situation and shares relevant information related to the context.
    • Writes and electronically files field trips reports, minutes of meetings based on given guidelines.


    The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.





    Education and professional qualifications


    • Medical Doctor or Nursing certificate with experience interpreting of medical terminology.
    • Prior experience in public health, healthcare management, emergency medicine or intensive care, working with the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, international organizations or NGOs would be an asset
    • Good understanding of emergency care would be an asset
    • Good knowledge of spoken and written English, Ukrainian and Russian.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Capacity to adhere to and to implement procedures.
    • Good communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work methodically with demonstrated analytical skills.
    • Ability to write minutes of meeting in clear, accurate and systematic manner.
    • Good political, social and cultural knowledge of the assigned environment.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines

    • Ability to work independently and at the same time be a good team player
