    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.


    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.


    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    The health field officer contributes in implementing, running and monitoring the health programmes, in cooperation with the health team





    • Implements health programmes in his/her area of responsibility/expertise
    • Collects, compiles and analyses requests from hospitals / Primary Healthcare facilities or other structures, provides recommendations to the Head of office;
    • Collects, compiles and reports weekly and monthly statistics;
    • Participates in the distributions of medical material to hospitals and PHC facilities;
    • Develops and maintains contact with authorities on municipal, regional and national level of health structures, social workers, RC branches;
    • Translates institutional documentation from English to Russian/Ukrainian and vice versa.
    • Ensures follow up and updates of specific files independently
    • Contributes to the various reporting/ office duties (e.g. reporting, movement plans, Field trips notifications, etc.)
    • Assists the team members in running support or operational activities
    • Maintains contacts with external interlocutors
    • Collects and collates data to monitor the impact of ICRC health programs.
    • Performs a range of administration duties to meet operational needs.
    • Contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation's objectives and priorities
    • Supports contextualization and implementation of reference documents and other reference material
    • Carries out logistical tasks regarding first aid, primary health care and hospital assistance
    • Strengthens local emergency preparedness and emergency response activities
    • Works collaboratively with other members of the Department and Delegation.


    The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.




    Education and professional qualifications


    • Degree in medicine, or nursing.
    • Qualifications in public health or health management a strong asset.
    • Minimum 5 years of total work experience, including 2 years of clinical experience.
    • 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is a strong asset.
    • Good connections with local health authorities or groups of interest for the ICRC.
    • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Russian
    • Good computer knowledge (knowledge of the Microsoft Share Point, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ...)
    • Capacity to adhere to and to implement internal procedures
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to work methodically with demonstrated analytical skills

    • Ability to work independently and at the same time be a good team player
