Driver Purchaser

Three MdM chapters are directly implementing activities in Ukraine:

• MdM Spain has the lead for global MdM repsonse in the country and covers Kiev and surroundings, Donbass, Kharkiv, Zaporidja
• MdM Germany covers Dnipro and Vinitsia
• MdM France covers the Southern part, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kherson

In Mykolaiv oblast, MdM-F supports Mykolaiv Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) in restoring access to primary health care and Mental Health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS) for populations affected by the conflict. The component of sexual and reproductive health, as well as Gender Based Violence is part of this project.

MAIN TASKS:

To drive mission vehicles (4x4, 2x4, ambulance, lorry, etc.Ensure the safety and security of goods and people while transporting authorized people (MdM staff, partners, etc.), goods and equipment according to an established schedule. To ensure the vehicle is kept in good condition. To participate to procurement tasks under the supervision of the Logistic Coordinator and Officer. 

Passenger Safety and Security of Transported Materials/Equipment

• Adapting his/her behavior and driving to assure passengers' security, equipment, and the rest of road users
• Always driving according to the Ukrainian circulation code and respecting speed limits
• Respecting the security rules, such as:
  • ensuring that all passengers have the security belt, 
  • ensuring that any passengers other than MDM team during his service must sign a disclamer
  • considering that weapons in the vehicle are forbidden
  • not having phone calls while driving 
• Ensuring having the valid document, such as: 
  • Having a valid driving license ready for any eventual inspection
  • Ensuring that all necessary documents are valid and renewed before the expiration date

 Maintenance of the Vehicle

• Checking on a regular basis (daily, weekly...) the mechanic of the car daily such as the vehicle's motor, oil level, breaks liquid, air pressure of wheels, wind shield liquid, etc referring to a checklist of maintenance.
• Alerting direct supervisor in case of technical problem or need for maintenance
• Organizing or if possible, carrying out of any necessary maintenance after validation of direct supervisor
• Ensuring that the vehicle is clean on the inside and outside
• Ensuring all necessary equipment and material is present in the vehicle and in good condition
• Refilling the fuel tank each time the tank is out of its capacity and provide invoices each 15 day to his/her supervisor

Other Responsibilities

• Filling a logbook with kilometers and fuel consumption he does
• Supporting the team for manual tasks
• Participating in internal field work meetings and informing MDM team on log and security issues
• Reporting any security related issues to the Logistic coordinator
• Supporting operational organization of field trips
• Helping the logistic team in the use of generator at the office, if any
• Participating in procurement tasks under the supervision of the Logistic team..

REQUIREMENTS:

• Training & Experience
   1. Solid previous driver experience 
  2. Good knowledge of Odessa and Mykolaiv Oblast 
  3. Similar experience of a minimum of 2 years 
  4. Valid driving license
  
  
• Skills
   1. Ability to drive a vehicle (according to the type of vehicle, light, heavy goods vehicle, 4x4, etc.) 
  2. Understand and be able to apply local rules of conduct and MdM safety rules 
  3. Know basic mechanics, how to solve minor technical problems and diagnose a breakdown, identify a malfunction 
  4. Identify and summarize important information to be reported and information in the relevant area 
  5. Design and check information in the relevant field 
  6. Know first aid procedures 
  7. Adapt behavior to the target audience 
  8. Be able to communicate and understand simple instructions in the language of the coordination (English, French or Spanish)

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

• Contract Type: Fixed term contract
• Duration: 6 months (possibility for extension) 
• Starting date: April 2024
• Job Schedule: Full time  
• Position based in Mykolaiv, with regular travels on the field (Mykolaivska and Kherson Oblast)
• Employment: Driver – category 2
• Salary : according to MdM Salary grid (non negotiable) :
• Gross salary from 32 500 UAH month + food and transport allowances
• Partial medical reimbursement
