Medical Doctor

Medici per i Diritti Umani – MEDU (Doctors for Human Rights – Italy) is a democratic, non-profit organization that operates independently of political, trade union, religious, and ethnic affiliations. 

Founded in Rome in 2004 by a group of doctors, midwives, and other volunteers, MEDU is dedicated to providing healthcare to vulnerable populations and exposing human rights violations, particularly those concerning the denial of the right to health. 

 Role: MEDICAL DOCTOR – Primary Health Care 

Place of work: positions open in Barvinkove (Kharkiv Oblast); Bereznehuvate (Mykolaiv Oblast); Blyznyuky (Kharkiv Oblast); Derhaci (Kharkiv Oblast); Dopropillja (Donec'K); Halytsynove (Mykolaiv Oblast); Kharkiv (Kharkiv Oblast); Zaporizzja;  

Conditions: 6-month continuous and coordinated collaboration agreement with possibility of an extension; part-time or full-time formula to be evaluated according to the project and candidates’ needs. 

Salary: The salary will be defined on the basis of the candidate's availability, up to 2000€ per month for the full-time.

  MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES 

In cooperation with and under the supervision of MEDU’s Project Coordinator and the Clinical Coordinator, the medical doctor: 

• Provides primary health care to affected people reached by the mobile clinic or to the users of the community center (both local and internally displaced people, in particular children, people with disabilities, veterans and their families, women, elderly people, war-affected population in general). 

• Is responsible for delivering medications to the patients, if needed. 

• Refers patients to territorial health services for specialized examinations and in-depth diagnostics and provides information on how to access the public health service. 

• Guarantees constant collaboration and two-way communication with the psychologist and the psychosocial operator of the team, referring the patient to them if needed. 

• Participates in coordination, advocacy and networking activities with other health organizations and institutions. 

• Collects data of the patients and collaborates in the systematization of data and the preparation of periodic reports. 

• Submits health data for the processing of medical reports and contributes to health analysis for needs assessments. 

• Collaborates to the elaboration and updating of informational materials. 

• Advises the Clinical Coordinator in the setting up of the activity calendar of the community center, in response to the needs encountered. 

• Participates in team meetings at least once a month. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Master's degree in medicine 

• Licensed to practice medicine in Ukraine  

• Minimum two-year work experience as a doctor (primary care, cardiology, pneumology, pediatrics, geriatrics, gynecology, etc.) 

• Foreign languages: Proficient in English (at least B1) 

• Adherence to the principles of humanitarian action 

• Interest in various human rights issues 

• Demonstrates a sense of initiative and flexibility 

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team 

• Capacity to adapt and thrive in stressful conditions 

• Proficient in coordinating and organizing activities 

• Possesses strong planning and contextual analysis skills 

• Ability to thrive in a multicultural context 

OTHER DESIRED REQUIREMENTS 

• Previous work experience in non-profit organizations. 

• Previous work experience with non-profit organizations in the social/health/mental health field. 

• Previous work experience addressing forced migration issues and access to healthcare. 

• Possession of a driving license type B and a willingness to operate a mobile clinic if necessary (camper van equipped as an outpatient clinic). 

• Proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel for managing the project beneficiaries ‘database.
