DOCTOR – Primary Health Care

Medici per i Diritti Umani – MEDU (Doctors for Human Rights – Italy) is a democratic, non-profit organization that operates independently of political, trade union, religious, and ethnic affiliations.

Founded in Rome in 2004 by a group of doctors, midwives, and other volunteers, MEDU is dedicated to providing healthcare to vulnerable populations and exposing human rights violations, particularly those concerning the denial of the right to health.

 Role: DOCTOR

Place of work: Chernivtsi and Chernivtsi oblast

Conditions: 6-month part-time continuous and coordinated collaboration agreement, with possibility of an extension up to 15 months

Salary: The salary will be defined on the basis of the candidate's availability,  800€ per month for 2 days a week

Starting date: March/April 2024

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

In cooperation with and under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and the Clinical Coordinator, the medical doctor:

• Provides primary health care to affected people reached by the mobile clinic (both local and internally displaced people, in particular children, people with disabilities, veterans and their families, women, elderly people, war-affected population in general).
• Refers patients to territorial health services for specialist examinations and in-depth diagnostics.
• Participates in coordination, advocacy and networking activities with other health organizations and institutions.
• Collects data of patients and collaborates in systematization of data and the preparation of periodic reports.
• Provides information on how to access the public health service.
• Submits health data for the processing of medical reports and contributes to health analysis for report processing and needs assessments.
• Collaborates in the elaboration and updating of informational materials and needs assessment forms.
• Advise the Field Activity Coordinator in the setting up of the activity calendar, in response to the needs encountered.
• Participates in team-meetings at least twice a month.

REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree in medicine
• Licensed to practice medicine in Ukraine 
• Minimum two-year work experience as a doctor (primary care, cardiology, pneumology, pediatrics, geriatrics, gynecology, etc.)
• Foreign languages: Proficient in English (at least B2)
• Adherence to the principles of humanitarian action
• Interest in various human rights issues
• Demonstrates a sense of initiative and flexibility
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Capacity to adapt and thrive in stressful conditions
• Proficient in coordinating and organizing activities
• Possesses strong planning and contextual analysis skills
• Ability to thrive in a multicultural context

OTHER DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

• Previous work experience in non-profit organizations.
• Previous work experience with non-profit organizations in the social/health/mental health field.
• Previous work experience addressing forced migration issues and access to healthcare.
• Possession of a driving license type B and a willingness to operate a mobile clinic if necessary (camper van equipped as an outpatient clinic).
• Proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel for managing the project beneficiaries database.
