Medici per i Diritti Umani – MEDU (Doctors for Human Rights – Italy) is a democratic, non-profit organization that operates independently of political, trade union, religious, and ethnic affiliations.

 Role: Psycho-social operator

Place of work:  Chernivtsi and Chernivtsi Oblast

Conditions: 6-month Full-Time continuous and coordinated collaboration agreement with possibility of an extension up to 15 months.                     

Salary: €1,400

Start date: March/April 2024

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

In cooperation with and under the supervision of the Psychologists and the Project coordinator, the two psychosocial operators will:

  • Set up, coordinate and implement the psychosocial support activities benefitting the project beneficiaries reached through the two mobile clinics (children, people with disabilities, veterans and their families, internally displaced people, elderly people, war-affected population in general);
  • Support the psychologists in identifying and assessing the most severe cases of psychological vulnerability;
  • Advise the Field Activity Coordinator in the setting up of the activity calendar, in response to the needs encountered;
  • Liaise and communicate with the shelters and with the territorial psychosocial support network (Mental Health and PsychoSocial Support Technical Working Group, MHPSS TWG, OCHA cluster);
  • Participate in clinical team meetings and meetings scheduled to achieve the project objectives;
  • Participate in drafting reports and in implementing research and needs assessment activities;
  • Be responsible for managing feedback and data collection forms related to psychosocial support activities;
  • Be responsible for collecting data of beneficiaries and updating the database of psychosocial activities on a daily basis;
  • Participate in project training activities and in MHPSS TWG refresher courses.

 REQUIREMENTS

 University degree (preferably in social work, social care, psychology, anthropology, community engagement);

  • Gained experience in the field of forced migration and psychosocial interventions dealing with PTSD cases;
  • Proven of past experience in psycho-social support activities;
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language;
  • Good level of computer literacy;
  • Adherence to the principles of humanitarian action;
  • Interest in various human rights issues;
  • Demonstrates a sense of initiative and flexibility;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team;
  • Capacity to adapt and thrive in stressful conditions;
  • Proficient in coordinating and organizing activities;
  • Possesses strong planning and contextual analysis skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural context.

OTHER DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous work experience with non-profit organizations of the social/health/mental health sector;
  • Previous work experience related to forced migration and access to healthcare;
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel for managing the project beneficiaries database.
