Junior HR professional (full time, Kyiv) 

Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, with 22,199 employees. GIZ has over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security. Our business volume is around 3.1 billion euros. As a public-benefit federal enterprise, GIZ supports the German Government – in particular the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) – and many public and private sector clients in around 120 countries in achieving their objectives in international cooperation. With this aim, GIZ works together with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.

At present, GIZ in Ukraine operates on behalf of four German Federal Ministries. Additionally, we work for the European Union (EU) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Together with our partners, we are promoting EU approximation and the reform process in Ukraine. 

The current priorities of German-Ukrainian cooperation are: good governance, energy efficiency and climate and sustainable economic development. Cooperation work outside these priority areas includes the effective long-term management of the situation in the east of the country, which focuses on strengthening the capacities of local communities hosting internally displaced people.

Key responsibilities include inter alia:

  • Assisting managers in drawing up job descriptions and requirement profiles.
  • Assisting HR Officer in recruiting (identifies existing GIZ HR resources in the country and/or region, writes job advertisements and ensures publication in appropriate print and/or online media).
  • Assisting with shortlisting incoming applications based on requirements or hiring criteria, gets references.
  • Assisting in organising the selection process (e.g. interviews).
  • Assisting with notification of unsuccessful applicants, documents the selection process, archives the documentation and enters the data in existing HRM systems.
  • Cooperating with GDIP (Генеральна Дирекція з обслуговування іноземних представництв) on different HR related topics (vacation days, sick leaves, social vacations, references, employment letters, letters on bank card issuing, etc.).
  • Communicating with Medical insurance company to ensure employees enrolment and disenrollment from insurance program. 
  • Supporting Language Classes for national staff (dealing with internal agreements, participation reports etc).
  • Assisting in implementing policies for national personnel.
  • Assisting with formulating and updating a wide range of HR information materials.
  • Assisting with developing HR procedures and instruments.
  • Ensuring proper personnel data storage (personnel files, SAP data etc).

Required qualifications, competences and experience:

  • BA/MSc degree in social sciences or psychology (if possible with a focus on HR management) or comparable degree;
  • initial experience in recruitment is required;
  • at least 2 years of overall professional experience, preferably in international organisations;
  • good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, Teams);
  • basic knowledge of HR management, knowledge of national labour and social law;
  • upper-intermediate level of English language, German language would be a plus;
  • awareness of how to handle HR issues appropriately (confidentiality, data protection);
  • very good communication skills and client-orientation;
  • stress-resistance and good time-management.

Assignment

Full time position with 40 hours working week. Contract duration is one year. Prolongation is possible.
