Customs Consultant, Business Tax Services

Our Tax practice revolves around helping our clients effectively manage their tax and customs obligations proactively and responsibly.

As part of EY global team, you will help our clients with customs planning, compliance and advisory wherever the client has needs. Key Responsibilities

• You will make technical contributions to customs compliance and advisory engagements, actively establishing, maintaining and strengthening internal and external relationships.
• You will participate in global compliance projects under manager’s supervision, which implies work in the cross-countries teams and day to day communication with the client.
• You will assist our clients performing import and export of goods in diverse and specialized industries; identifying risks and ensuring that the goods are declared to customs correctly. 
• You will help with exchange of information required for completion of customs formalities, as well as conduct post-clearance internal reviews, performing data cross-checks and analysis aimed at detection on potential issues (e.g., customs valuation, customs classification, tariff reliefs/preferences etc.).
• Many principles of customs law are similar around the globe. You may work with clients’ import and export transactions performed in different jurisdictions (e.g., EU, Ukraine, CIS countries etc.) and gain knowledge on how customs formalities are performed in these countries.

• Assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
• Build strong internal relationships within the EY team and across other services

To qualify for the role you must have

• A bachelor's degree in law, finance, accounting or a related field (customs-related specialization is a plus) with strong academic credentials
• A minimum of 2 years of experience gained from service in the customs authorities (customs clearance divisions), or work in logistical/customs brokerage firm, dealing with lodging customs declarations/handling and processing of customs-related documents
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent communication and prioritization skills 
• Strong teamwork and leadership/project management skills 
• Self-motivation and desire to exceed expectations
• Develop personal stress-resistant
