Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is currently looking for a WASH/SNFI Officer to join the team in Ukraine.

General information: 

· Organization: Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), Warsaw based international non-governmental organization with representation office in Ukraine

· Position: program officer

· Location: Mykolaiv with frequent field visits

· Job terms: Full-time

· Duration: till June 30th with 2 months probation period

· Starting date: ASAP

About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental organization which since 1992 has been providing humanitarian and development help worldwide. So far, the interventions have been carried out in 46 different countries. By possessing long-standing expertise in the implementation of projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, as well as Nutrition and Education, PAH concentrates its global activities on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering from the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.

PAH has been present in Ukraine since August 2014 delivering humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable of the conflict-affected population. PAH provides assistance to internally displaced people, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of food security protection and livelihoods. PAH Ukraine is currently expanding programming from humanitarian to both early recovery and development-oriented interventions that provide sustainable livelihoods opportunities to the affected population.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and implementing Shelter-NFI and WASH activities and monitoring of the needs;
  • Conducting beneficiary targeting, organizing registration and verification in collaboration of local partners;
  • Drafting BoQ (Bill of Quantities) for rehabilitation activities;
  • Providing quality Technical Support and ensure effective implementation of Shelter-NFI and WASH activities as per the set plan of action;
  • Carries out the registration and selection of beneficiaries using KoboCollect questionnaires;
  • S/he also works with and provides technical support and guidance on Emergency shelter and NFI activity to project area staff;
  • Participating in the needs assessments carried out in project operational areas;
  • Working closely with local partners, local institutions/authorities and affected population on the grond;
  • Ensuring all project-related documentation received and properly stored;
  • Attending relevant internal and external meetings (Clusters meetings, meetings with other INGOs, project review and lessons learnt meetings, etc.) and preparing minutes;
  • Performing project site visits to the field sites in Ukraine;
  • Completing other tasks as requested by supervisor.

The successful program officer will be selected based on the qualification requirements described below:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as civil engineering or architecture or any other relevant area.
  • At least 2 years of experience in construction humanitarian assistance.
  • Experience working with documentation (storing, managing etc.)
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and monitor activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with team members, partners, and local stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and policies related to emergency response and humanitarian assistance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Fluency in English will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
