Job Title: Project Officer

Reporting to: Project Manager, Protection

Contract Type: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Contract Duration: Until 28 February 2025 (with possibility to extend, subject to funds confirmation) 

Duty Station: Kyiv, Ukraine

Part 1:  Role Purpose:

Street Child is seeking a person who eager to be involved in supporting the response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine caused by Russian military assault. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a member of well-established international organisation and its growing team in Ukraine. The role will require a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to complement to one-year project and be responsible for any Education and Child Protection activities related to its implementation.

Street Child is looking for a person with experience and knowledge in working in humanitarian context with a strong emphasize on education and child protection interventions. The person will be responsible for implementation of day-to-day activities of education-in-emergencies programme and under a supervision of a Project Managers will ensure the project is implemented without delays and of the outmost quality. The role will require close collaboration with local implementing partners, Street Child project and operation teams.

The hired person will contribute to day-to-day implementation of the project in Donetsk, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Chernihiv oblast. The person will ensure that services for children provided within child friendly spaces and multifunctional mobile teams are of outmost quality. That teachers and school psychologists will receive cascaded trainings on various matters including MHPSS, psychological first aid, catch-up education, GBV and explosive ordnance risk education. The person will also contribute to activities supporting communities and community-based volunteers assisting most vulnerable children and their caregivers.

This role is opened to implement project funded by Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund (project number 27464).

Part 2:  Key Responsibilities:

1) Project Delivery and management (60%) 

• Develop and coordinate project activities in collaboration with the Project Manager and in liaison with implementing partners, government and child protection, education stakeholders ensuring that project is implemented according to work plan and logical framework,

• Contribute to the planning, organisation, coordination and control of project tasks by ensuring compliance with Street Child procedures and donor requirements,

•  Ensure the implementation of the project is in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines of the Project,

• Monitor day-to-day activities in programmes to ensure best practice is adhered to in provision of training for teachers, psychosocial support for children, case management for children at risk, etc.

• Coordinate with project staff to ensure a rapid, proportionate and effective response,

• Identify gaps and areas of improvement throughout the implementation of the project and provide appropriate feedback to the project manager,

• Provide data analysis for review and reporting purposes. 

2) Partnerships (30%) 

• Work closely with implementation partners to ensure project deliverables are reached,
• Cooperate with partners to ensure the project is implemented timely and its deliverables of the outmost quality,

• Provide technical support to partners throughout all stages of the project,

• Support Capacity Strengthening Officer in assessing partner training and capacity building needs;
• In coordination with Project Managers, Capacity Strengthening Officer, support organizing or leading training sessions for project staff,

• Contribute to developing training materials in accordance with SOPs,

• Support information sharing among the project actors

3) Representation (10%)

• Responsible for coordination and liaising between Street Child and local partners, other agencies, local government, cluster partners,

• Represent Street Child at various stakeholder meetings, including cluster meetings, working group meetings,
• Support Project Manager in presenting program deliverables to the donors and humanitarian stakeholders.

 4) Other 

• Carry out all reasonable requests that are within the broad remit of the role, 

• A strong commitment to Street Child’s vision, mission, and values,

• Adhere to all Street Child’s policies and procedures, 

•  Willingness to travel to the project implementation sites.

Part 3:  Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

•   Strong commitment to confronting social and humanitarian challenges and motivation to work, 

•      At least 1 year of experience in working in non-governmental sector,

•      Experience working for education and child protection sectors in Ukraine,

• Experience working with Microsoft Excel, and other Office tools,

• Experience in organizing mobile team’s work is considered beneficial,

• Experience in organizing training sessions, workshops are considered beneficial.

Skills and Abilities

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills,

• Ability to perform assigned tasks independently and meet tough and multiple deadlines,

• Problem solving and leadership skills - proactive approach to making suggestions and identifying solutions,

• A ‘can-do’ attitude,

• Strong analytical and report writing skills is considered beneficial,

• Knowledge of Project Cycle is considered beneficial,

Education / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to Education, Social Work and Social Sciences.
