Role:

Compliance Counsel/Records Manager is responsible for the effective management of the information that is received and generated by the company.

 

Role of a Compliance Counsel:

  • Keeps senior management informed of industry-specific regulations and new developments in ethics and regulatory compliance;
  • Ensures that appropriate risk management strategies are in place;
  • Develops the procedures on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs;
  • Addresses escalated compliance and privacy or unusual issues and concerns;
  • Assesses product, compliance, privacy or operational risks and contribute to risk management strategy;
  • Coordinates, monitors, and provides regular reports on compliance activities, deadlines and processing dates to support operations driven by the standards of group of companies, applicable state and local laws, rules, and regulations as well as on the progress and status of remediation activities;
  • Provides compliance and regulatory staff training, including coaching, counseling, and disciplining;
  • Participates with planning committees related to implementation of new standards;
  • Recommends procedures for functional area and continually evaluates to ensure compliance

 

Role of a Records Manager:

  • Leads, plans and manages the records management program for both core mission and administrative records as well as scheduled and non-scheduled records, regardless of medium or format;
  • Keeps senior management informed on current and projected records management requirements, issues, legislative, and regulatory matters;
  • Works with legal team to ensure that records assets are managed in accordance with state and company regulations, policies, terms and best-practices;
  • Works with the IT team to ensure that records management functionality is incorporated into the architecture of all information systems;
  • Works with senior management to ensure the development, establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of effective systems of administrative control for safeguarding all records and deployment of state-of-the-art information technology techniques and modern business management practices;
  • Works with business teams managers to ensure records creation and maintenance, use, and disposition are in accordance with legal and operational requirements;
  • Formulates and oversees the implementation of records management policy and procedures;
  • Leads the transformation of records management processes to address the challenges posed by electronic records.
  • Participates to integrated records management program steering committee and schedules its meetings

 

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advanced English;
  • Master's degree in law;
  • Practical knowledge of current legislation regarding data protection and freedom of information;
  • Theoretical knowledge of electronic records management and digital preservation issues;
  • Ability to produce reports, policies, guidance and best practice advice;
  • Professional qualification and practical experience in Records Management or Archives or a related discipline;
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at any one time and balance competing priorities;
  • Knowledge of industry specific software;
  • Ability to anticipate changing demands for use of information;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work with many different people;
  • Excellent research and organizational skills;
  • Curiosity and an eye for detail

 

Studies:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in law

 

Technical skills, operational skills and experience:

  • Good knowledge of Commercial, Trade and Corporate Law of Ukraine as well as International Private Law;
  • Work experience in a risk management and records management environment;
  • At least 5 years demonstrable track record gained in a law firm, in-house or other legal department handling privacy/data protection, cybersecurity, and/or information technology law around the globe
