FUNCTIONS

1. Mapping Activities

The IMPACT GIS Officer will have overall responsibility for all IMPACT map production activities in Ukraine. He/she will ensure the capitalization of tools and procedure related to mapping and spatial databases. Furthermore, he/she will support the assessment and field team in the collection and management of spatial datasets, verification and visualization of the collected data.

2. GIS Activities

The IMPACT GIS Officer will support IMPACT Assessment team in all activities which require GIS Analysis. Including, but not limited to, spatial proximity analysis, network analysis and geocoding activities. IMPACT GIS Officer will be also responsible for the visualization of the analysis results in form of paper or / and interactive map products.

3. Field coordination of mapping and partner support activities for the Disaster Risk Reduction Program

The IMPACT GIS Officer will engage on a regular basis with internal and external stakeholders for the disaster risk reduction and environment program. This will include mapping support of all IMPACT partners within disaster risk reduction project, attending meeting and representing IMPACT at coordination events.

4. Confidentiality and Data Protection

The IMPACT GIS Officer will maintain the strictest confidentiality of data and processes. He/she will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of information and data.

Qualifications

• Full working proficiency in English required;
• Bachelor \ Master`s degree or equivalent professional experience in GIS, Cartography, Geodesy, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, Social Science or any relevant discipline;
• Essential minimum technical qualifications:
  1. Experience with ArcGIS Desktop or QGIS or ArcGIS Pro;
  2. Understanding of basic cartography concepts and data management procedures.
• Desirable technical qualifications:
  1. Data processing and analysis experience using Excel / R / Python (pandas) / Tableau;
  2. Experience with Remote Sensing technologies and software (ERDAS, ENVI);
  3. Previous experience with mobile data collection tools (ODK, KOBO, Ona) and understanding of questionnaire design workflow is a strong asset;
  4. Cartographic design skills and experience.

• 1-2 years of experience in GIS or information management field, preferably in humanitarian or academic context is an asset;
• Academic experience including research in any field using GIS technologies is an asset;
• Presence of any relevant portfolio (GitHub account, web based-dashboard, OSM mapper profile, published maps) is a strong asset;
• Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
• Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities;
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently;
• Ability to learn new concepts/build technical skills quickly.
