The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced Ukrainian professional for the position of Manual Worker with its office in Kramatorsk. Initial duration of appointment is for 12 months, subject to a subsequent OSCE Permanent Council Decision to extend the mandate of the Mission.

Tasks and Responsibilities

 

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer and overall guidance of the Director, Administration and Finance the incumbent performs basic maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment and other small jobs and repairs in Mission offices. More specifically the incumbent will be responsible for:

  1. Checking the state of Mission offices and its equipment (kitchen, WC, shredders, furniture) on regular basis according to the confirmed schedule, and distributing supplies of coffee, tea, milk, sugar; keeping control over A/C functioning, lightbulb replacement, technical state of the office premises.
  2. Collecting and distributing supplies of stationery, paper, foodstuff, ICT-equipment and other necessary equipment upon request, receiving and distributing water bottles on weekly basis, replacing water bottles in the water coolers throughout the Mission premises on daily basis.
  3. Assembling and installation of desks, shelves and other furniture in offices and other Mission areas; carrying out maintenance and repair work on furniture; minor work on other equipment.
  4. Participating in relocation processes; moving furniture and equipment, inspecting them for repair; hanging up notice boards, TV-sets, pictures using relevant tools and fixings.
  5. Checking cleaning, household, refreshments supplies in stock and informing the supervisor when stocks are low, facilitating in order for the month relevant supplies.
  6. Installation of sockets, switchers within office premises; minor sanitary engineering works.
  7. Preparation of the Missions conference and rooms for official events and provide logistical support for events.
  8. Providing assistance with cleaning outside perimeter and HO forefront from snow and ice.
  9. Providing assistance in loading and unloading of equipment and materials.
  10. Performing other duties as required. May be called to drive official vehicles.

 

Necessary Qualifications

 

  • Citizenship of Ukraine or holding permanent resident status in Ukraine;
  • Completed secondary education;
  • One year working experience in crafts, building/masonry, carpentry/woodwork, electrics or another trade;
  • Professional fluency in Ukrainian and Russian languages, both oral and written;
  • Working knowledge of English, both oral and written;
  • Valid driving licence is preferable;
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy items;
  • Team spirit and demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Cultural sensitivity and judgement;
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and with limited time frames;
  • Ability to cope with physical hardship and willingness to work extra hours and in an environment with limited infrastructure;
  • Proven resilience to high stress environments.

Remuneration Package

 

Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 601.00 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme and social security/ Provident Fund. Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale.
