MHPSS Program Assistant/ Translator- Kyiv

Job Summary

The program assistant/Translator will work closely with the MHPSS team including the Coordinator, Specialists, and Managers to provide all the support to the team. He/she to make sure the tools and information shared are understood and facilitate communication with non-English speaking team members and partner 

Main Responsibilities 

Office work:

  • Assist in completing administrative tasks related to program implementation such as follow-up on leave plans, field staff request forms, memos, etc.  
  • Support program officers with data entry and consolidation of data when needed 
  • Responsible for scheduling meetings and training in consultation with the MHPSS Coordinator; and program officer/Manager including preparation of venue, stationery, and training materials    
  • Prepare, organize and deliver forms and documentation needed by the team at the field level, for the daily implementation (client files, data collection tool etc.), and also for training. 
  • Prepare training Certificates and get required copies, signatures, and stamps.  

Translation

  • Verbal interpretation from Ukrainian/Russian into English and vice versa for all Mental Health and psychosocial activities, documentation, and meetings
  • Written translation of unofficial documents related to projects and activities (i.e. Assessment    forms, not-confidential documents, flyers etc.) Ukrainian/Russian into English. 
  • Assists the MHPSS expats/Consultant with interpretation during the activities with the national staff and beneficiaries 
  • Compiling information, such as technical terms used in MHPSS, into glossaries and terminology databases to be used in translations 
  • Convert concepts in English to equivalent concepts in Ukrainian/Russian and vice versa. Relay the style and tone of the original language 
  • Render verbal messages accurately, quickly, and clearly 

Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor. The candidate must maintain a high level of flexibility in terms of taking on additional responsibilities, working within strict deadlines, after-hours and on weekends when it's necessary, and guaranteeing confidentiality. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration, English languages or any relevant fields.
  • At least 1 year working in social sector is a plus
  • Experience in office work in international English speaking company is an asset
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Ukrainian/Russian, and English, 
  • Ability to travel on short notice to project sites and other governorates when needed. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, in a multicultural environment, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure high-quality work; 
  • Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in utilization of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in particular
