The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC also endeavor’s to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles. In 2014 and recently, the ICRC expanded its presence in Ukraine. There are more than 600 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipro, Poltava, L`viv, Odesa and Vinnytsiya.

PURPOSE 

Logistics Site Manager 2 is in charge of logistics activities within a sub-delegation. S/he ensures that logistics systems are in place and operational and provides technical and operational support for purchasing, warehousing, stock management, import-export activities and statistics, in accordance with the ICRC’s logistics standards.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To oversee the supply-chain management (manages and follows up on requests to ensure their timely treatment, provides customer desk service and carries out related reporting).
  • To participate on and contribute to monthly Collaborative Demand Planning (CDP) of the delegation.
  • To supervise the purchasing team (purchase orders, supplier files, sourcing, etc.).
  • To provide support to the Warehouse manager and supervise the implementation of the inventory in the warehouse.
  • To ensure the compliance with financial and logistical procedures.
  • To supervise the overall activities of the fleet department.

 PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Understands and supervises the Performance Management & Development (PMD) activities for employees under his / her supervision
  • Makes sure that deadlines for the PMD cycle are met
  • Engages in ongoing and continuous feedback and support, particularly for employees under his / her supervision, but also other staff members
  • Organizes regular meetings within his / her team to ensure optimal coordination of the work and proper flow of information
  • Ensures that job descriptions for employees under his / her supervision are up to date; seeks feedback and support from the HR Department if needed
  • Plans and coordinates the annual leave of the employees under his / her supervision ensuring continuity of the operations throughout the year and making sure that there are no outstanding holiday balances at the end of the year
  • Coordinates and supports the employees under his / her supervision in their personal development by coaching and advising them on internal and external training and development possibilities

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

 Education and professional qualifications
 

  • Bachelors or technical degree in logistics or equivalent experience.
  • Good command (spoken and written) of English and/or French.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of specialized software.
  • Minimum six years' work experience, preferably in commercial, military or humanitarian logistics, including management experience.
  • ICRC field experience an asset.
