Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Field Officer based in Dnipro

 The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of the population of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in affected countries by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 95 countries and has some 19,000 field staff. In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence in Ukraine. There are more than 500 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Odesa, Donetsk, Luhansk. In addition, the ICRC has scaled up its activities all across Ukraine since the beginning of the current crisis.  AIM OF THE POSITION

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with the relevant MHPSS HPM and MHPSS Program Responsible at local and national level. S/he provides direct support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, supervises others to do so.  

 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, implements and follows up on MHPSS activities during emergency and in armed conflict related settings at local and national level.
  • Trains and supports URCS staff/volunteers and other organizations/partners/teams as per the program's strategy.
  • Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations or group support activities via outreach activities.
  • Organizes referrals of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up when needed.
  • Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection during emergencies.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with URCS, health authorities, academics, technical advisers from other organizations, etc. as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS program beneficiaries.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Mental Health & psychological team and/or MHPSS HPM, providing data and program updates. 

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and professional qualifications

  1. University degree in psychology, clinical psychology is preferable 
  2. 2  to 3 years of overall professional experience with a minimum of 1 years' experience in MHPSS programs preferably
  3. Experience in conducting training and supervision.
  4. Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
  5. Clinical, psychosocial and community-based experience 
  6. Humanitarian experience an asset.
  7. Fluent command of English as well as the main local language.
  8. License to practice in his/her own country.
  9. computer proficiency
