Senior Build Engineer

DESCRIPTION

Our customer is an American multinational technology company that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. 

Currently, you will be working to take the build and test process of the low-level components of the OS for multiple types of devices - smartphones, PCs, wearable devices, TV - to the next level (think kernel and low-level libraries). We do not have all the answers on how to do that yet, perhaps you do? We are exploring, measuring, and trying new things. We are responsible for validating nearly a quarter of all changes that go into our OS releases and affect 1 billion+ of customers, so this is not just a theoretical exercise. We will not be satisfied with anything less than outstanding. 

As Build Engineer, you will oversee the build and verification process of the Kernel and related components for all of OS releases. You will work as part of an agile team that is big on shortening feedback cycles for our internal customers. Our aim is to provide fast feedback to all our stakeholders. You will work hands-on with various tools to raise the bar for automation of day-to-day operations and rapidly deliver innovative solutions. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash)
• Experience of creating, running, and troubleshooting native builds (Objective-C, C++)
• Strong knowledge of how compositors work and ability to track down a compiler/build output error to one of the thousands of merging changes
• Proficiency in Git and other version control systems
• Experience of writing code
• Familiarity with TDD
• Ability to iterate and seek new ways to shorten the feedback cycle of build pipelines
• Experience in Docker/Kubernetes, as well as modern configuration management tools like Salt/Ansible, would be a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate close interaction with development teams, management, and other internal organization
• Intermediate or higher English level (B1+) both spoken and written
