Junior Accounting/Finance Professional

 

The Junior Accounting/Finance Professional will join the Administrative Unit of the Good Governance (GG) Cluster I to support different GG projects in the implementation of their activities. Thus, close coordination with the technical and administrative GIZ staff in Kyiv for ensuring smooth cooperation with partners and contractors is of utmost importance.

 

As junior accounting/finance professional you will take responsibility for supporting accounting, but also financial and contract management for at least two projects in the GG portfolio. This includes inter alia:

 

  • All tasks related to bookkeeping as well as steering of monthly payments in the individual projects
  • Filling documents in reference files or in DMS in the line with GIZ's filing rules
  • Managing of the cash books and bank accounts, orders and files invoices; preparing and entering vouchers
  • Effecting payments via Internet banking
  • Managing cash withdrawals and cash balance, keeping the cashbook, preparing monthly period financial statements, cash records and bank reconciliation records
  • Carrying out checks on cash books and on bank accounts
  • Preparing data and documents for the completion of expert and consulting contracts / local subsidy agreements to the country office, supporting accounting for these contracts according to GIZ-standards
  • Supporting recording, financial reporting, etc. on local procurement of materials and equipment
  • Managing inventories, recording invoices, checks and collects documentation of the handover of purchases and inventory to project partners, annual inventory stock-taking
  • Keeping track of receivables in the projects and in the country office and takes care of timely confirmation of services rendered
  • Advising the officer responsible for the commission and other project staff to all questions regarding finances and accounting
  • Ensuring proper transfer of project responsibility in case of changing of staff
  • Coordinating preparation, implementation and follow-up of internal and external controls
  • Ensuring orderly storage of relevant documents
  • Taking on other tasks if necessary.

 

Requirements to candidates:

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or a related field from a recognised university
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a comparable position
  • Very good knowledge of English and/or German; Ukrainian and Russian fluent.
  • Good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Very good understanding of financial planning and accounting
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Customer and service-oriented attitude, an independent and result-oriented approach, flexibility, self-organization and ability to withstand stress as well as intercultural competencies
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed

 

Employment conditions:

 

Full-time position with 40-hours working week.

 

Duration of the contract: till 31.12. 2020. Prolongation possible.

 

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine
