Junior to Intermediate Microsoft .NET Web Developer

Summary

Spatial Knowledge Engineering Inc., is a Canadian IT company searching for a junior to intermediate software web developer with 2+ years of work experience to help build custom web-based applications compatible with desktop, tablet and mobile browsers using the Microsoft .NET framework. Part of our work also involves mapping based systems and any knowledge or experience with GIS is desirable (not mandatory). You will work with a team of specialists in designing, building and testing applications; setting them up for our clients to test and use; and, finally providing technical support in resolving any operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Write structured, scalable code using .NET programming languages, designed to work with multiple web browsers.
• Follow internal company coding standards.
• Read data models and understand object-relational databases.
• Work independently on specific assigned programming tasks.
• Communicate with other team members to provide technical input on various tasks and projects.
• Develop technical documentation throughout the software development life cycle.
• Test code to detect and remedy errors and omissions.
• Implement visually appealing, user-friendly, and engaging user interfaces
• Deploy applications and systems in our secure cloud environment.
• Improve existing software and code to ensure adherence to stipulated guidelines and standards.
• Provide technical support for our Client User Support Team in resolving technical issues.
• Remain abreast of coding and technological changes that will impact your work.

Requirements

• English speaking and writing capabilities at intermediate level, with willingness to become fully proficient (SKE will provider English training classes).
• Formal knowledge/training and experience as a .NET Developer, preferably with Visual Basic, Java Script, and HTML5/CSS3.
• Knowledge of client and server-side application development based on REST and RPC HTTP API architectures.
• Any familiarity with mapping-based systems, especially ESRI’s ArcGIS v10.x, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the Windows Server 2019+, ASP.NET framework, SQL Server 2017+.
• Understanding of structured software development methodologies.
• Capacity to use SQL (Structured Query Language) to query object-relational databases.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to communicate and collaborate with other technical staff working as part of project teams on various projects.
• Understanding of coding standards.
• Attention to detail.
• Reasonable knowledge of networking and security.

Work Location and Compensation

One of our technical offices is located in Kiev, Ukraine. You will be expected to work in the office during normal hours, Monday to Friday, from app. 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. to coincide with our Canadian office work hours. There are occasions where some of the implementation work must be done off hours and you will be expected to work during these times, with appropriate compensation.

Compensation is based on a very competitive hourly wage that will be negotiated, and is dependent on your skills and work experience. Hourly wages are reviewed on an annual basis and increased based on performance and cost of living expenses. Annual performance bonuses may also be provided that are dependent on overall company performance.
