In early May 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine announced a new wave of foreign currency liberalization measures, the most extensive since the commencement of full-scale invasion. The new package of amendments provides for the following liberalization measures: ✏ permission for partial servicing of loans obtained before 20 June 2023 ✏ simplified conditions for repayment of loans obtained after 20 June 2023 ✏ lifting restrictions on import operations ✏ permission to repatriate dividends ✏ lifting restrictions on funds transfers for leasing/rent ✏ permission to transfer funds to the parent companies

Asters, together with Kellerhals Carrard (Switzerland), defended the interests of FC Metalist LLC (Kharkiv) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne in a case concerning the issue of sports succession and a related claim brought by a former player of FC Metalist PJSC, the football club that has been in liquidation since 2017 due to bankruptcy. Asters international arbitration and cross-border litigation team, together with foreign lawyers, successfully challenged the decision of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association to recognise FC Metalist LLC as the sporting successor of FC Metalist PJSC. Asters international arbitration and cross-border litigation team advising on the project included Partner Oleksandr Volkov and Associate Veronika Hodlevska.

Asters has successfully advised FC Shakhtar Donetsk in connection with its participation in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. This season, Shakhtar played its home matches in Hamburg, Germany, invited there by Hamburger SV, one of the country's oldest clubs.   Asters tax team (Kostyantyn Solyar, Yurii Dmytrenko) in cooperation with a German counsel Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek (Fabian Gaffron, Jens-Hendrik Janzen, Simon Pommer) helped to structure and develop a financial agreement between Shakhtar and Hamburger in respect of the matches.   The partnership with Hamburger SV was a lifeline for Shakhtar to continue playing in the Champions/Europa League and generate revenue to maintain its operations. Participation in top-level European competitions also maintain the visibility of the club's brand on a global stage, attracts fans and sponsors.

A coalition of countries around the globe imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia and its supporters following the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. But two years later, Western technologies and military and dual-use goods continue to fuel Russia’s war machine arrayed against Ukraine.
