Java Technical Lead

Our Client's branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, reaching 350 million of unique monthly visitors, and more than 290 million reviews and opinions covering 5.3 million accommodations, restaurants, and attractions.

Softserve Team is a part of Client's distributed team helping integrate with booking tools in the world, develop and enhance recommendation engine and improve user experience across Client's portfolio. 

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Lead Java Software Engineer to manage a technical team in cooperation with the Project Manager and help us build functional products and applications.

A Lead Java Software Engineer responsibilities will include training and assisting the technical team, shaping development process, dealing with Client and a range of their business partners, delivery of high-quality product per commitment. If you have hands-on experience with leading technical team and programming in Java and are interested in Agile methodologies, we'd like to meet you.

Ultimately, you'll implement and maintain Java components and frameworks throughout the software development lifecycle along with your team. 

2-4 weeks onboarding onsite program in Boston, MA, USA or/and Dublin, Ireland with the Client's team is in place in an effort to meet teammates and get up to speed quickly. 

Responsibilities: 

• Build and manage a team of Java software engineers
• Shape and tune development process
• Analyze user and system requirements
• Prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Design flowcharts and documentation to illustrate software solutions
• Validate software functionality and security
• Write efficient code based on feature specifications
• Build trusted environment with Client and their business partners 

Requirements: 

• Proven experience as a Java Software Engineer, Java Developer or similar role
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Strong experience building Java EE applications (preferably using Java 8, but Java 7 is sufficient)
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL, JUnit, bash, ant, Linux
• Knowledge of Ruby, python will be a plus
• Problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A business mindset
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
