Senior Project Assistant (Development and Support)

Type of Appointment: 6 months with possibility of extension


Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and under the direct supervision of the PDSO, the incumbent will responsible to support the project development activities in the Mission.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the PDSO in project-related document drafting and preparation of work plans, budgets and proposals on implementation arrangements in line with IOM and donor requirements.
  2. Keep abreast on the development of new IOM projects, and funding opportunities and support in the preparation of background information for programme/project formulation.
  3. Conduct research and gather information to identify IOM-relevant project opportunities based on national and regional needs, and donor priorities, in close coordination with the PDSO.
  4. Facilitate the planning, coordination and implementation of data collection, analysis and information dissemination in close collaboration with the relevant stakeholders
  5. In close coordination with PDSO, keep track of the ongoing projects, maintain a proper record of approved project proposals and budgets and their revisions both in soft and hard copies.
  6. Develop monitoring and evaluation sections for project proposals as appropriate, e.g. narrative approach tailored to technical approach, timeframe, and budget; illustrative results and indicators; provide input for other proposal sections including staffing, budgets, and technical, as needed.
  7. Understand and monitor the reporting requirements for the different projects and support with revision of donor reports.
  8. Support effective IOM knowledge management, including project tracking, data capture and analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and information sharing.
  9. Compile, summarize data and present basic information/data on programme/project delivery; produce statistical reports, queries and maps.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Social Science, International relations, Development Studies or related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or
  • High School degree with six years of relevant professional experience.


  • Experience in project monitoring, support and development activities;
  • Familiarity with general migration issues;
  • Experience in promoting and facilitating partnerships and networks with various stakeholder groups;
  • Experience working for an international agency is a strong advantage;
  • Good level of computer literacy, including database applications.


Fluency in English, Ukrainian and Russian is required.
