Senior Java Developer (Social Shopping Platform)

Customer:

Our customer is a UK-based company; they own a global marketplace for the fashion industry that allows users to sell customized or rare clothes and accessories. It provides a way to recycle unwanted items for money.

The customer is pretty successful, has raised more than $100 million of investments since the project has more than 15 million active users.

Project:

The project is a social shopping platform — a mix of retail and social network platforms. Users have profile pages to post pictures and descriptions of what they are selling and their prices. Generally, a platform specializes in clothes retail. Posts can contain hashtags and additional information to make searches more comfortable.

The main task is to produce the most evocative buying and selling experience for users. You will be responsible for payment system integration and working with accessibility features.

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for the delivery of major product features
• Promote good design principles, best practices, coding standards, and quality criteria set forth on the project
• Carry out technical supervision of middle and junior software development staff
• Share technical knowledge with teammates and customers
• Involve in projects with the possibility to learn new technologies and accumulate best practices
• Design, implement, and test Java applications from scratch
• Review and optimize existing solutions

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in commercial software development
• Experience in maintaining and debugging live software systems
• Strong in Java 8/11
• Experience with Spring Boot framework, JPA/Hibernate libraries
• Experience with Rest API
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Good experience with Maven/Gradle
• Hands-on experience in Unit testing
• Upper-Intermediate level of spoken and written English

Would be a plus:

• Good knowledge or experience with the following tools and techniques: Scala, JEE (JBoss), Kafka, Rabbit MQ, Apache Camel, Vertx, Redis/Mongo, Elasticsearch, Oracle, Jenkins/TeamCity, Ansible
• Experience with Front-end development (JavaScript/TypeScript)
