Java Senior Developer

At Shopit we are developing a large-scale online consumer Shopping Search Engine for all of Europe. Our goal is to make all products, brands and retailers searchable in one shopping search engine. To achieve this we are using big data, data analysing, parallel processing, search engine logic and social shopping functionality together with modern web design and user experience for both web and mobile devices. In short we are creating the world's largest product database.

Responsibilities of the Position

At Shopit you will be responsible of the continuous development, optimization, deployment and operations of our web crawling systems running in a Linux environment.

Required experience

You should have 5+ years of documented knowledge of following technical skills:

• Proficient in Java 8
• Strong understanding of OOP and Clean Code
• Excellent analytical, algorithmic and optimization skills
• Advanced knowledge and experience in HTTP, HTML, CSS, Javascript in order to crawl web pages; 
• Advanced knowledge and experience with SQL (MySQL) 
• Understanding typical distributed architectures (WS, messaging, clusters, big data, caching, scalability etc.)
• Experience with design and development of high throughput distributed data processing systems

Additional

It is of course an advantage if you have some special interest / knowledge / experience within:

• Web-crawling systems
• Distributed / parallel processing
• Hibernate / Spring

You need to have good English in speech and writing to cooperate with the rest of the team in Sweden.

The position is full-time at our completely new modern office in central Kiev (near Metro Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Zolotye Vorota, together with perhaps some short trips to our main office in Vaxjo, Sweden. (Also full-time work permit and re-location to Sweden could be possible in the future if you like this).
