The Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is a German aid and welfare organization. With over 31 200 employees and 1,2 million members in Germany, ASB is represented with 16 branches at federal-state level and more than 200 branches at regional, district and municipal levels all over Germany. ASB is active in the fields of social protection, rescue services and social welfare services. Since its foundation in 1888, ASB has acted as a politically and denominationally independent association ensuring a high level of continuity and reliability.

 

ASB'sForeign Aid Department provides both direct emergency relief to people hit by man-made or natural disasters and longer-term rehabilitation measures designed to promote recovery and to rapidly help restore the livelihood of refugees, internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups. The ASB Foreign Aid Department is represented with the country offices in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Greece, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Kosovo, Nicaragua, Niger, Philippines, Serbia and Ukraine.

 

Since the beginning of conflict in Eastern Ukraine in 2014, ASB has been implementing humanitarian interventions in the country in cooperation with its local partner, Samaritan Union of Ukraine (SSU). In 2016, ASB opened a representative office in Ukraine to coordinate the relief operations in the country.

 

Currently ASB Country Office in Ukraine is looking for Finance and Administration Assistant. S/he will be based in Kyiv. Finance and Administration Assistant reports to and is supervised by Finance and Administration Manager, based in Kyiv.

 

Duration: 12 months (extension foreseen depending on performance)

 

Start: July 1, 2019

 

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

 

Vacancy: National position

 

Salary: ASB offers a competitive salary

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

Cash flow management and accountancy

 

  • Payment of expenses related to the daily operations of the Country Office
  • Keeping day to day accountancy
  • Managing advances for staff
  • Control of receipts and invoices; update of cash/bank journals and balances
  • Preparing (glue and copy) and archiving of all necessary documents for monthly accountancy
  • Keeping the administrative archive of the Country Office
  • Preparing all documents and reports related to taxation in Ukraine in line with respective deadlines

 

Human Resource Administration Management

 

  • Managing HR administrative issues: personal documents, leave follow-up, payment sheets, etc.
  • Calculating and registering all payments and charges regarding the staff

 

Minimum Level of Competency:

 

  • University Degree in Finance, HR or related field
  • Minimum one year of professional experience in a similar position, preferably in an international NGO
  • Experience in accounting and human resources administration management
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian
  • Knowledge of German is not required, but would be an asset
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and accounting software
  • Strong sense of responsibility
  • Team player
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles (Core Humanitarian Standards, Sphere Minimum Standards, etc.)
  • Experience working in humanitarian emergency settings will be an asset.
