Deputy Chief Accountant

Maersk is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic finance and accounting professional to join our team in Odessa as Deputy Chief Accountant. In this role you will supervise the daily accounting and reporting activities of our Finance team.

• Ensuring full compliance with all local laws, regulations and policies.
• Ensuring that local documentation requirements are satisfied, local tax and accounting systems are updated in a timely manner.
• Supervision over the daily accounting and reporting activities, including VAT.
• Supporting the Chief Accountant in liaising with local authorities as needed, being the point of contact for Authorities in case of controls or enquiries.
• Supporting and driving tax optimization initiatives, working closely with local management team and Center tax team on new projects.
• Supporting the Regional Tax Manager in proactively managing any potential risks and exposures.
• Working closely with bank on foreign exchange control and coordinate payments to Liner companies.
• Cooperating with Financial Controller to avoid deviations between systems and prepare accurate monthly/annual Group reporting.
• Ability and eagerness to coach junior accountant specialists, share knowledge and good practices.
• Monitoring compliance with local fiscal and statutory requirements in relation to GSC performance.
• Advising & coaching GSC on UA accounting & tax.
• Managing relations with payroll vendor.
• Liaising with and supporting auditors.
• Serving as an entry and reference point for finance related ad hoc projects.
• Adressing ad hoc business issues.
• Building and maintaining fraud awareness / prevention / anti-corruption.
  

Experience:

• A Master University Degree in Accounting, a Chartered Accountant qualification will be a plus.
• Prior proven experience (at least 3 years) as key role as Accountant or Deputy Chief Accountant.
• Perfect knowledge of Ukrainian Financial Reporting Standard/Taxation Regulations
• IFRS, strong experience in 1S and MeDoc, Experience in SAP is a plus.
• Preferably experienced in working closely with offshore teams in service centers.

• Fluency in English is a strong advantage, native Ukrainian is a must
