About you

The Customs Support Specialist ensures the efficiency of the import and export activities. The Customs Support Specialist makes sure that the work is organized in an optimal way in the country in order to secure efficiency as well as a high level of internal control. You have an eagerness and desire to understand the IKEA business and influence improvement of the business.

About the job

  • You have 3-5 years experience in Customs activities
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of government regulations in Customs area
  • You have good understanding and knowledge about supply chain operations
  • You have detailed understanding of tariff schemes, incoterms, customs valuations regulations; some geopolitical awareness
  • You have detailed understanding of Customs valuation process, invoice processes, and the interfaces between purchasing and customs systems.
  • You have advanced level of English knowledge

About the assignment

In this role you will:

  • Take responsibility for local import and export, including securing efficient and effective internal controls and compliance to internal and external rules and regulations
  • Manage and maintain daily interaction and relationships with strategic partners (clearing agents, PR C, authorities, shipping companies, IKEA logistics) as well as manage and control external audits
  • Continuously evaluate current ways of working, identify control weaknesses, develop solutions and implement improvements
  • Working with Global supplier and store teams to implement procedures and projects, ensuring that local compliance is maintained
  • Ensure that the local activities are organized in an optimal way for efficiency and internal control
  • Continuously develop local competence level, in order to support back-up and succession planning
  • Ensure integration in operations locally, including communicating compliance requirements to relevant areas of the business and ensuring that store maintain controls to detect discrepancies
  • Monitor changes in local rules and legislations and communicate events with potential business impact internally in due time
  • Contribute to local development via for example projects and establishment of working methods
  • Implement and maintain local customs trade solutions such as bonded warehouse
  • Handle the interface towards customs brokers/agents, including audits of their operations
  • Ensure timely and correct filing of pre-arrival notifications
  • Ensure efficient and reliable handling of local customs related documents, including procedures to archive and retrieve records and information and to protect against the loss of information
