A small, successful tech company seeks a candidate to fill an infrastructure and systems engineering role. All applicants who are selected will complete a tech skill screening at True Ability.
The ideal candidate must be:
- Able to communicate in English (don't care about your grammar, but must be able to understand and communicate freely in writing or speech within a predominantly English-speaking team).
- Obsessed with performance, consistency, and uptime.
- Experienced (3+ years) in all things Linux server administration, ideally Debian.
- Well-versed in a configuration management system, ideally Puppet.
- Able to handle desktop support for a team of around 30 in office and remote employees in an Apple environment.
- Self-motivated and self-organized, taking the initiative to plan your work, communicate that plan, and meet deadlines.
- Passionate about staying current and applying the most innovative industry best practices.
- Able to explain complex systems and problems in simple terms to colleagues and business people regardless of their technical knowledge.
Good to have:
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or just comfortable in a ROR environment
- Fluency in English
If you worked with us, last week you might have...
- Deployed a highly-available cluster of virtual machines set up with Nginx, Unicorn, and Ruby for a new website.
- Diagnosed a performance problem affecting a VM host and developed a plan to fix it.
- Audited the infrastructure for single points of failure and addressed any issues you found.
- Configured nightly backups of all critical servers, services, and databases.
- Debugged and fixed a load balancer performance issue.
