Linux System Administrator

Requirements:

3+ years working in 24/7 production environment with Unix/Linux systems.

Experience to support servers on Dell, Supermicro, Cisco hardware and VMware or equivalent platforms.

Responsible for general systems administration in a multi-platform environment, including user account creation, system configuration management, OS installations, security updates, urgent system patching. 

Ability to conduct research into Linux issues and products as required and present improvement ideas 

Familiarity with various network protocols, firewall management, and database administration.

Working knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes, Nginx/PHP, MySQL/MongoDB/Redis, Apache related software (Kafka/Hadoop/Spark/Hive/Hue), VMWare, Bind, Sendmail/Postfix.

Proficient with Bash and secondary scripting language (e.g Perl, Python, or Ruby)

Knowledge of using an IT automation suite (e.g. Gitlab CI/CD, Puppet, Ansible, etc) to implement business solutions.

Experience with security best practices

Will be a plus:

Experience in high-load projects.

Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results, prioritize activities, time-management.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the configuration, troubleshooting, support and maintenance of all UNIX systems (hardware and software) including Production, QA, and Development server environments.

Reviews system logs, application logs and security logs.

Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.

Performs routine maintenance of user accounts and permissions.

Writes and implements scripts to automate tasks.

Ensure design of the system allows all components to work properly together. Ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware components that are problematic.

Coordinates hardware/software installations and upgrades. Recommends resolution to complex matters of significance and coordinates the implementation of the approved course of action.

Oversees the installation of client-specific applications and systems. Determines revisions or updates to installation as needed.

Coordinates testing, upgrades and configuration of system files and services.

Recommends revisions or changes based upon results. Prepares for and prescribes approaches to possible downstream implications.

Ensure system backups are properly run, catalogued and stored.

Utilizes corporate standard tools for change control and issue tracking.

Participates in Business Continuity Planning and testing.

Participate in 2nd level 7?24?365 On-call support for mission-critical server systems.

Must be a results-oriented individual who has experience meeting the day to day demands of a growing organization with an expanding technology infrastructure.

The candidate will be expected to identify opportunities for improving system quality and for suggesting improvements to processes and tools.

Understand business drivers and strategies, and recognizes opportunities for technology innovation to support strategic initiatives.
