REACH is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian action in crisis contexts. By providing precise and reliable information on the humanitarian situation of populations in Ukraine, REACH’s work informs better delivery of aid and more transparent decision making. In Ukraine, REACH has a supportive and closely working team, spread across seven bases (Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, Odessa and Dnipro), all of whom are dedicated to producing high quality research to improve the situation for people in Ukraine.  

REACH is seeking a senior-level data expert with previous experience in to join our growing team as a Senior Data Officer. The ideal candidate will be a mid-career professional, who has experience working with data analytics and is motivated to further develop their skills and expertise, whilst helping the humanitarian response.   

Duties and Areas of Responsibility  

• Support the development of a sector-specific knowledge base for key geographic areas, to inform the humanitarian response in Ukraine.  

• Provide technical guidance on sampling procedures to ensure that data collection processes comply with the agreed methodologies.  

• Build flexible data collection tools and ensure quality of the collected data through a set of data checking and cleaning procedures.  

• Develop systems and processes for monitoring data collection progress and compliance with sampling frames.  

• Analyze collected data using Excel or R and present results in a form of static and\or interactive visualizations.  

• Engage in systems strengthening and process improvement related to data collection and analysis activities.  

• Develop technical skills in the growing humanitarian sector, with the support of our Assessment, Data and GIS teams.  

• Manage more junior data staff, with an emphasis on capacity building and skills development.  

Person Specification  

• Experience in a the areas of social sciences, data science or information management.  

• Prior experience in the humanitarian sector desirable.  

• Experience with Excel is needed.  

• Prior experience using R, PowerBI or any other similar tools is a strong asset.  

• Fluency in Ukrainian and good English required. [Very good English writing skills are required]  

• Highly motivated and passionate about improving the humanitarian response in Ukraine  

Terms and Conditions  

This full-time post is for an initial 6 months, with the possibility of renewal following successful completion. We offer a competitive salary, based on the candidates experience and skills.
