Background on IMPACT Initiatives

IMPACT Initiatives is a unique Geneva-based humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian action in crisis contexts worldwide. By providing precise and reliable information on the humanitarian situation of populations in Ukraine, IMPACT's work informs better delivery of aid and more transparent decision making. IMPACT is hosted in the countries they work in by their sister organization ACTED.

In Ukraine, IMPACT has a supportive and closely working team of over 60 staff, spread across seven offices, all of whom are dedicated to producing high quality research to improve the situation for people in Ukraine. Have a look at some of the data and analysis IMPACT produces here .

IMPACT is looking for a highly qualified individual for the following vacant position:

Position:                     Project Development and M&E Officer 

Contract duration:   3 months (renewable)

Location:                   Kyiv

Starting Date:           ASAP

FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Ukraine Country Coordinator (CC) and the Senior Regional Project Development and M&E Officer (SPDO) the Project Development and M&E Officer (PDO) is responsible for coordinating project development and leading on monitoring and evaluation for the Ukraine response. The ideal candidate would be eager to work within a dynamic and motivated team and will have a clear focus on project development as a tool to improve the efficacy of the humanitarian response in Ukraine.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Fundraising and External Relations
  • Regularly conduct stakeholder analysis, who does what and where 
  • Based on the IMPACT strategy, support in identifying funding for diversifying IMPACT’s donor portfolio by regularly tracking funding opportunities 
  • Maintain regular working relationships with donors, IMPACT partners, NGOs, UN agencies, clusters, working groups, consortia and academia

2. Grant management

  • Draft proposals based on inputs from research units and coordinate the proposal development process
  • Organize and lead on timely Kick-off meetings involving all project components and focal points 
  • Oversee and track that all contractual obligations are met in terms of deliverables, as well as narrative and financial reporting requirements
  • Maintain and regularly update the filing system for grant management
  • Lead on grant management meetings
  • Coordinate and draft quality performance reports, reflecting the progress and status of projects in a transparent, timely and professional manner

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Oversee M&E implementation, maintenance and tracking for reporting purposes
  • In liaison with SPDO, contribute to the review of IMPACT information products for relevance, user-friendliness, effectiveness, timeliness and to ensure that they sufficiently inform the target audience
  • In liaison with SPDO, lead and work with research units to develop a strategy to improve research output utilization and impact
  • Develop analytical reports on research output utilization based on quantitative data from SendinBlue, Google Analytics, user surveys and qualitative data gathered through key informant interviews

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Excellent academic qualifications, including a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (International Relations, Political Sciences, Social Research, Economics, Development Studies, or similar), required;
  2. At least 1 year of relevant working experience, an asset
  3. Familiarity with the humanitarian coordination system, and understanding of donor and governmental requirements, an asset;
  4. Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting; required
  5. Experience with external engagement (donors, partners and other key stakeholders), an asset;
  6. Excellent analytical skills required. Experience in assessments, M&E, evaluations an asset;
  7. Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required;
  8. Familiarity with Google Analytics and email marketing, an asset; 
  9. Coordination, organisational and planning skills required, including ability to manage large workloads, effectively meet deadlines, through an excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize 
  10. A self-starter with a proven ability to work independently;
  11. Solution-oriented, flexible, and open-minded, including ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment required
  12. Fluency in English is required, competency in Ukrainian an asset;
  13. Ability to operate in a complex and challenging security environment

Terms and Conditions 

This full-time post is for an initial 3 months, with the possibility of renewal following successful completion. We offer a competitive salary, based on the candidates experience and skills.
