Middle Release Engineer for XServer products (PTV Group)

Project overview:

Customer is a group of companies in West Europe (France, Denmark, Austria, Germany etc.) providing services to plan and optimize movements of people and goods.

Customer technology supports modeling and simulating traffic networks, scenarios and solutions. Software helps traffic and city planners in over 120 countries to organize optimal traffic flow, increase road safety and ensure minimal impact on the environment. Around the world customer is helping more than 2.500 cities make smart decisions about their future. Powerful simulation tools also allow manufacturers and fleet operators to test new technologies and trends in a virtual environment.

This project is aiming activities on release pipelines support, facilitate software upgrades and customization for the range of product that covers a wide variety of use cases and requirements ranging from the display of mobile objects, route planning and fleet optimization, to the exact calculation of driving and arrival times, toll costs and CO2 emissions.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Release team on software upgrades and releases;
• Conceive, create and maintain release plans;
• Define and follow release process including related best practices;
• Communicate release related needs to R&D and QA teams;
• Interfaces to all stakeholders to guarantee agreed timing, scope, and quality of the release;
• Monitor VMs and middleware updates, fine tune load balancers;
• Monitor and report risks and release KPIs;
• Monitor release quality metrics in conjunction with Quality Assurance Team;
• Defines strategy for generating, storing and maintaining deliverables and artifacts;
• Automate release process;
• Contribute to Continuous Integration system for release related activities;
• Manage, automate and optimize build systems in conjunction with R&D and QA teams for better efficiency.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of release management experience;
• Fluent in English, both in spoken and written;
• Proven expertise in Software Release Management, Configuration Management or Project;
• Good communication and teamwork skills;
• Experience in agile software development lifecycle;
• Linux master - extensive knowledge of *nix systems;
• Profound knowledge of NGINX;
• Good knowledge of tools for continuous integration (Jenkins);
• Experience of working with Git, Subversion;
• Proficient knowledge of scripting (i.e Node.js, bash, Powershell) or programming (i.e.C#) languages;
• Experience with RDBMS (Postgres).

Nice to have:

• Experience in location-based services;
• Understanding of quality assurance at various life cycles of product development;
• Experience of working with Docker.
