Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is currently looking for Shelter/NFI Officer to support implementation of the project.

General information:

  • Organization: Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), Warsaw-based international non-governmental organization with representation office in Ukraine

  • Position: Shelter/NFI Officer 

  • Location: Dnipro

  • Job terms: full-time

  • Type of job: employment contract

  • Starting date: ASAP

  • Duration: 12 months with possibility for extension

About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental organization which since 1992 has been providing humanitarian and development help worldwide. So far, the interventions have been carried out in 46 different countries. By possessing long-standing expertise in the implementation of projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, as well as Nutrition and Education, PAH concentrates its global activities on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering from the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.

PAH has been present in Ukraine since August 2014 delivering humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable of the conflict-affected population. PAH provides assistance to internally displaced people, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of food security protection and livelihoods. PAH Ukraine is currently expanding programming from humanitarian to both early recovery and development-oriented interventions that provide sustainable livelihoods opportunities to the affected population.

Requirements:

  • Leading Shelter and NFI activities and monitoring of the needs;

  • Conducting beneficiary targeting, organizing registration and verification in collaboration of local partners;

  • Providing quality Technical Support and ensure effective implementation of emergency shelter and NFI activities as per the set plan of action;

  • S/he also works with and provides technical support and guidance on Emergency shelter and NFI activity to project area staff;

  • Planning and implementing Shelter/NFI activities;

  • Work closely with other program staff to ensure program quality and impact in line with the goals and objectives of the projects

  • Monitoring progress and providing ongoing feedback and recommendations to the project management;

  • Participating in the needs assessments carried out in project operational areas

  • Working closely with local partners, local institutions and affected population;

  • Ensuring all project-related documentation received and properly stored;

  • Attending relevant internal and external meetings (Clusters meetings, meetings with other INGOs, project review and lessons learnt meetings, etc.) and preparing minutes;

  • Performing project site visits to the field sites in Ukraine;

  • Completing other tasks as requested by supervisor.

Education:

BSc degree in Civil engineering or architecture or any other relevant area

Experience:

minimum 2 years experience in construction. having worked on site is appreciated.

Experience in the area of emergency Shelter, NFI in humanitarian response is appreciated.

Work experience in NGO sector or social sector

Additional Requirements:

  • Good level of english oral and written

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to train and mentor staff

  • Strong knowledge on monitoring and evaluation and report writing

  • Ability to plan and organize work to meet individual, team and project objective

  • Have Good presentation, training and facilitation skills

  • Ability to effectively liaise with government, donors, NGOs, community leaders and other stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability for conflict resolution and independent decision making

  • Strong interpersonal skills & excellent team player.

  • Cultural and gender sensitivity
